Famous Swedish Art Museum Director Dies at 82

World famous Swedish art museum director and art collector Pontus Hultén has died at the age of 82.

He is credited with giving Stockholm’s musem of modern art an international reputation with several highly praised art exhibits and for launching the Center Pompidou in Paris.

As the new museum director here in Stockholm, Hultén captured international headlines by inviting visitors to enter the building through the womb of a giant, reclining woman figure.

Before he died, the Swede donated his entire remarkable collection of 700 works of modern art to the Stockholm museum.
