British TV Rules Affect Swedish Channels

Two Swedish television channels will probably have to change their advertising practices, because of new rules in Britain.

For years TV3 and Kanal 5 have broadcast from London, to get around tougher Swedish legislation, which bans advertising aimed at children. But now the British authorities are introducing rules that in some ways go farther than the Swedish, banning commercials for junk food, for example, in programs for viewers up to 16 years old.

TV3 is now considering whether it should move to yet another country.
