Major Cuts in Swedish Adult Education

The new Swedish center-right coalition government has made drastic cuts in state support to adult education.

1,500 full-time jobs have been whacked – and the special support to recruit new teachers has been cancelled.

The government argues that there will be no negative consequences – since the hoped-for boost in employmnent is to make much of the adult education program unnecessary.
