100,000 Hens Culled: Salmonella

More than one hundred thousand Swedish chickens have been culled following the discovery of salmonella at a hatching facility in southern Sweden.

The county veterinarian believes four more farms are also infected and all poultry there have been put down. Thousands more birds in the area remain under observation.

There is still no explanation for the source of the infection.
