Record profits delight Swedish-Finnish mobile firm TeliaSonera

The Nordic region’s largest telecommunciations group says its fourth quarter profit jumped 36 per cent thanks to an increase in demand.

Net profit rose to 646 million dollars, beating analysts forecasts of 566 million.

The Stockholm-based company says it expects sales to grow to as much as 14 billion dollars in two years and that this year’s net income is also expected to be higher than in 2006.

The firm managed to squeeze sales higher due to more mobile subscriptions and increased usage.
