Sweden one of the best places for children

Youngsters here have a better life here than in almost any other economically advanced nation, according to a new report from UNICEF.

The study looked at things like poverty, health, education and family relationships. Sweden came second after the Netherlands while Britain and the United States were at the bottom of the table of 21 countries.

The report says if all of the countries had the same child injury death rate as Sweden for example, around 12 thousand deaths a year could be prevented.

Sweden, Britain and the US had the highest proportion of children living in single-parent families, while Italy, Greece and Spain had the lowest.
