Youth Unemployment Plan Presented

The Swedish government is committing the equivalent of 400 million US dollars to fight youth unemployment.

But at the same time, demands on the young and unemployed have increased. Those who do not take part in the new initiative risk losing their unemployment benefits.

The new ”job guarantee” for under 25 year-olds who have been unemployed for 50 days is based on the center-right’s election party platform. The new initiative will be in place as of the 1st of December and will affect an estimated 30,000 youths.

After help from personal advisors and intensified support, those wishing to claim benefits must show that they are actively looking for jobs.
