High Turnout Among First-Time Voters

New statistics show that more first-time voters took part in September’s general elections compared to the previous election in 2002.

Around 76 per cent cast their votes.

Statistics Sweden says there were also an increase in the number of foreign citizens voting in the local elections, around 37 per cent.

Non-Swedes were first given the right to vote in the local elections in 1976 and while 6 out of 10 did so, the figure has been falling ever since.
