Baby Metallica Allowed To Keep Name

The parents who called their daughter Metallica have been allowed to keep the name after authorities in Gothenburg withdrew their opposition.

The battle to keep the name which attracted attention around the world, began after the Swedish Tax board ruled that Metallica was not an appropriate name, both on the grounds that it’s the name of a heavy metal band and that it’s too closely related to the word metal.

After the girl’s mother won her case at the county court, the tax board vowed to appeal, but on Thursday dropped its opposition, allowing young metallica to keep her name and receive a passport.

Karolina Tomaro told the Göteborgs- Posten newspaper that she was delighted and revealed that she’d received support from people all around the world. ”Several people suggested I should move to where they live, because then our daughter wouldn’t have any problem in being named Metallica.”
