Hearing of Swede Accused of Terrorism

A extradition hearing is underway in the Czech Republic for a Swedish citizen the United States claims is a terrorist.

The 41 year old was detained in Prague in December 2005 after an alert was sent out by Interpol, based on information from the FBI and the CIA that he was suspected of setting up a training camp for terrorists in the US.

The American suspicions were already known in Sweden before the man was arrested in Prague but a prosecutor here decided the evidence against him wasn’t even strong enough to warrant a preliminary investigation.

The man’s lawyer says his client denies any crime and is extremely worried about what will happen to him if he’s handed over to the American authorities.
