Wildcast Miners’ Strike Continues

The wildcat strike at the Swedish state-owned mining company LKAB continued Tueday morning.

Some 300 workers are demanding a monthly pay rise of nearly 600 US dollars.

LKAB says it will not negotiate with the miners as long as the strike continues, and say they are considering cutting wages and reporting the illegal strike to the Labor Market Court. The miners, who had already been promised a 10.2 percent pay rise, say LKAB can afford to pay more.

The average salary at LKAB is around 3,400 dollars a month.
