Concerns About Emissions Targets

While the Swedish government has vowed to cut emissions of greenhouse gases by at least a fifth by 2020, a study by Swedish Radio News shows that a quarter of the country’s local councils lack both targets and initiatives to reduce emissions.

Of the 65 percent of local councils that responded to the survey a quarter are yet to introduce strategic plans to tackle emissions.

According to data from Statistics Sweden, some local councils which produce the most greenhouse case per capita are also those who have failed to introduce long-term planning to cut emissions.
