Tougher Checks To Combat Paedophiles

The government’s introduced broader checks on those working with children to combat the potential threat from paedophiles.

In an ammendent to a law introduced in 2001 which made employers cross check professional candidates with police records, schools and nurseries will now have to also check any part-time staffed employed as cover for holidays or other types of leave. Last year, checks were carried out on 90,000 applicants.
