The number of dollar-millionaires in Sweden has reached record levels, rising to 48,300 people in 2006, according to a survey carried out by the consultancy firm Cap Gemini.

The number of Swedes with more than one million US dollars in assets, over and above the value of their homes, jumped nine percent last year, which beat the highest average rises in both Europe, and the rest of the world.

According to the survey, there are now some 9.5 million dollar millionaires in the world, worth a combined net worth of around 37,200 billion dollars.
