In a statement the university highlighted her work for vulnerable children, and improved healthcare.
Senator Clinton studied law at Yale and in 1972 presented her thesis on the rights of children. She has also studied children’s health, with a focus on brain development.
Her major initiative while husband Bill served as US president,was a scheme to provide all Americans with healthcare. The Clinton health care plan, failed to gain approval by Congress in 1994, but she was successful in establishing the Children’s Health Insurance Program in 1997.
In its valediction, the university cited Senator Clinton’s work in ”raising awareness of the increased health problems linked to obesity, poor food quality, and physical inactivity.
