The driver was found after becoming stranded in her car at Ödåkra, an area of Helsingborg municipality in Skåne. The car was all but submerged by the time the woman was discovered, according to a local police spokesperson.
The Swedish weather agency SMHI expects a further fall of between 20 and 35 millimeters on Friday, although the weather is expected to improve over the weekend. Local farmers have warned their harvests risk being ruined, while many roads and some railway lines in the region remain closed.
A severe weather warning is still in place across the south, which has endured excessive rainfall all week.
