Delays in Benefit Payments

Alarm reports are coming from Sweden’s social security offices – with many Swedes are not getting their housing subsidies, child allowances and other payments this month.

The Swedish Social Insurance Agency blame the delays on the belt-tightening cutbacks in staff made by the center-right coalition government.

For those Swedes and foreign-born residents living on tight budgets and dependent on their benefit payments, the delays can be a personal disaster – forcing some against their will to seek social welfare.
