Author Lars Forsell Dead at 79

One of Sweden’s best-known writers, Lars Forsell, has died at his home at the age of 79.

Born in 1928, Forssell was a poet, playwrite, lyricist and a had been a member of the Swedish Academy since 1971.





In the 1950’s Forsell became known for his groundbreaking work which often attempted to blur the boundaries between popculture and high art. Rollplay and duality were common themes in Forsells work, which he described as living culture clashes.

French art and English literature were also major influences of Forsell’s work. Forsell attracted publicity by being an early critic of the Vietnam war.
