US Beats Sweden in Davis Cup Semis

The United States won this weekend’s Davis Cup semi-finals against Sweden.

Andy Roddick beat Jonas Björkman in straight sets to take the opening reverse singles match Sunday, giving the US an unbeatable 3-1 lead.

Afterwards James Black beat Simon Aspelin to make the final score 4-1.

On Friday the two sides split the opening singles, with Roddick defeating Joachim Johansson, also in straight sets, and Thomas Johansson evening the second singles match against James Blake.

The American twins Bob and Mike Bryan won Saturday’s doubles against Jonas Björkman and Simon Aspelin.

The semi-finals have been played in Gothenburg’s Scandinavium arena.
