Burma Protests in Stockholm

There are plans for demonstrations in Sweden against the Burmese military regime’s crack down on the anti-government protests.

The United Nations Security Council has not agreed to take any measures towards the Burmese regime, while Russia and China are against imposing any sanctions on Burma.

Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt has told Swedish Radio news that it’s important to start a dialogue with Burma’s regime and establish communication before putting in sanctions which take a long time to come in to effect.

In Stockholm demonstrations are expected to take place on Friday where Burmese are planning to protest at the Chinese and Russian embassies. Over 300 Burmese live in Sweden
