Sweden’s Oldest Stone Church Dated

”Dagens Nyheter” reports that a church in southwestern Sweden is now believed to be the oldest known stone church in this country.

Archeologists investigating the Varnhem church in Västergötland say finds in churchyard indicate that that part of Sweden became Christian 150 years earlier than prevously believed.

The dating of the church has been moved back to the 11th Century. Archeologists say skeletons and other finds will help them to understand more of the history of the region.
