Too Few Mammography Specialists

Experts are complaining that Sweden’s extensive breast cancer monitoring system may be in danger.

Writing in the newspaper “Dagens Nyheter”, 7 medical experts from hospitals around the country and the Swedish Cancer Society say that because too few doctors and nurses are trained in mammography, many hospitals here fail to schedule women for examinations in time.

They are calling on the government to take action to fast track the training of new specialists in the field. October is International Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
