"Nyet" to Swedish Election Monitors

Swedish Radio News reports that Sweden and Finland are not welcome to send observers to monitor Russia’s coming parliamentary elections.

A Russian government spokesman says the two countries have not treated Russia objectively. Finland has been criticised for blocking Russian entry into the World Trade Organization because of a disagreement over duties on timber products.

Russia reportedly accuses Sweden of partiality because Swedish experts found that an undetonated bomb in Georgia was probably dropped from a Russian warplane.
