Swedish Archbishop Urges Bali Deal

Sweden’s Archbishop has joined European church leaders in urging delegates at this week’s climate change conference in Bali to make firm commitments on reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Archbishop Anders Wejryd made the call in a letter with England’s Archbishop of Canterbury and the leader of the German Lutheran church, the AFP news agency reports.

In the letter to their countries’ leaders and the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, they advise a reduction of at least 80 percent in global emissions by 2050.

They say a bigger change is needed for the sake of the world’s ’vulnerable communities’.
