“Vin & Sprit" to be Sold in 2008

Sweden’s state-owned alcohol company “Vin & Sprit” is to be sold in 2008.

According to Minister for Financial Markets Mats Odell, the company which is valued at over 6 billion dollars and currently employs 2,300 people has had much interest in it so far.

When questioned about whether current jobs would stay in Sweden, Odell explained that it was not a requirement the Swedish government could place in the sale, and therefore not guarantee.

“Vin & Sprit” is one of 6 state-owned companies the centre-right coalition government plans to sell. All proceeds from the sales are in turn to be used to pay off the Swedish national debt.
