Life Sentence for Police Murderer

A 55-year-old man who shot a police officer and injured another in the town of Nyköping in June was sentenced to life on Tuesday.

The district court ruled that the man was mentally ill but could still be held responsible for his deeds calling them an attack on Swedish democracy.

The case has drawn a lot of attention in Sweden. Only around 30 police officers have been murdered on duty in this country since the beginning of the last century.
