Sweden To Pay Lower EU Membership Fee

The annual cost for Sweden’s membership of the European Union may be lowered by up to half a billion US Dollars, due to a new way of calculating the fee.

It is based on the average gross national product and partly on the annual sales tax revenues. The reduction will come in into effect in 2009, and the government is says the annual fee over the next six years will be somewhere around 160 billion US Dollars.
