Swedes in Kenya Told to Stay Indoors

Stay indoors – that’s the recommendation to Swedes in Kenya at the moment.

Commenting on the ongoing turbulence after the recent election there, the Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Carl Bildt described the situation as extremely serious and recommended to all Swedes in the country, to be extra careful and only go outdoors in case of emergencies.

Referring to the counting of votes, Bildt said there were “very serious shortcomings,” and that those now responsible must do all that is possible to stop the continuing violence.

Approximately 300 people have been killed in the recent conflict, and a total of more than 10,000 have been forced to flee.
