Criminal Records Requested by Postal Services

According to a report by Swedish Television, approximately 100,000 people in Sweden last year gave their criminal record to prospective employers to show that they had a clear record.

According to Swedish law, it is only employers in some industries that can demand to see a sealed record upon application. But reporters found that in some industries, such as in the postal and delivery services, there were severe discrepancies.

They found that some employers demanded that job seekers voluntarily provide a sealed envelope containing their criminal records in order to be considered for employment.
