‘Retiree’ Generation Important to Trade

A new generation of financially stabile pensioners will become an important part to trade in Sweden. That’s a change Sweden will face as the generation on its way to retire now is possibly the wealthiest in history and willing to spend the money they have.

In an interview with Swedish Radio News, Jörgen Jedbratt explained that although 95% of advertising is spent towards the age group 35 and under, it is indeed the older generation that has more to spend and that the Swedish commerce industry is set for a change in the future.

He also pointed out that by the year 2020, 40% of Swedes will be 50 years of age and older but companies still have a long way to go before they meet the needs of this new ‘retiree’ generation.
