Researchers Wish to Open Warrior King’s Grave

With new technology and a list of unanswered questions, Swedish researchers are hoping for permission to open the grave of Sweden’s King Charles XII who died in 1718.

In a controversial petition, the researchers have asked to open the grave and examine the King’s cranium.  Thanks to new technology they could carry out such an examination without lifting the body or removing its shroud.

Of special interest is the make-up of the bullet.  Was Sweden’s Warrior King indeed shot by his own button as legend might have us believe?

The last time the grave was exhumed was in 1917 when the sarcophagus was restored.
