Gothenburg to Stop Discrimination of HBT Community

After declaring itself the worst large town in Sweden to live in for the homosexual, bisexual and transgender community, Gothenburg is taking steps to improve its standing.

New initiatives will be aimed at areas in which discrimination is taking place in Gothenburg.

One area to be tackled is official forms in which married, unmarried and cohabiting couple are all options, but registered partnership is not, despite the law for registered partnerships having existed for ten years. Malmö and Stockholm, for example, already have registered partnership as an option on their official forms.

More changes to reduce discrimination are on the way but many of those in the HBT community in Gothenburg say there is still a long way to go.
