Swedes Evacuated From Chad

Despite the EU’s military mission to Chad being put on hold, Sweden continues to push for a UN mandate.

Dramatic developments in Chad led to a UN Security Council special meeting Sunday night. EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana, announced Monday that the Union’s military mission was on hold but would be deployed.

Evacuation of foreigners has begun and according to Sweden’s Foreign Ministry, there were 9 Swedes in the country.
