Palme Prize Winner Stopped On Plane

The winner of this year’s Olof Palme prize, Parvin Ardalan, has been forced off the plane she was due to take to come to the prize ceremony in Stockholm.

Iranian agents took her off the Air France flight in Teheran, despite the fact that she had all the necessary papers.

Parvin Ardalan is a well known women’s rights activist in Iran, and as recently as April last year was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment for endangering the safety of the state of Iran.

Organisers say they are not now sure if she will be able to make it to the prize ceremony in Stockholm on Thursday.
