Gunshot damage at the prosecutor's flat

Malmö Chief Prosecutor’s Apartment under Gunfire

One of Sweden’s most prolific chief prosecutors against organised crime became a crime victim himself when several shots were fired towards his Malmö apartment windows.

He wasn’t at home when the shots were fired early Friday morning, and no-one was hurt. Minister of Justice Beatrice Ask told TT news agency that although this was a serious attack, the justice system would not be cowered.

The prosecutor has now been put under police protection whilst investigators continue their search for the perpetrator.

Attacks on prosecutors have become increasingly common in Sweden. Last year, chief prosecutor Barbro Jönsson’s home in Trollhättan was bombed, causing material damage.
