Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt (l) and Kosovo's Prime Minister Hashim Thaci

Radio Sweden Saturday

Following the European Union summit in Brussels, in our weekly review we’ll be focusing mainly on Sweden and the EU:

Carl Bildt returns to the Balkans, the first EU foreign minister to visit Kosovo following the breakaway Serbian province’s declaration of independence.

The EU is the world’s number one development assistance donor. But that aid has come in for criticism.

We talk to the co-spokesperson of the Green Party, who has changed her position and now supports continued Swedish membership in the EU.

We visit the EU’s new emergency disease control center.

Then, not EU news...the winner of this year’s Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award.

Closing music: ”Mio My Mio” by Gemini

Presenter: George Wood
