Flat-sharing with Poisonous Snakes Allowed

The Swedish Environmental Court has overturned both the County Administrative Board and the local municipality of Gävle and given a man the right to continue living with his 47 snakes – of which 20 are poisonous – in his apartment.

The local municipality had forbidden the man to live with his snakes because they considered their mere presence to put the man’s neighbours under psychological stress. However, the Swedish Environmental Court deemed this to be highly improbable without medical evidence and judged the man to be a responisble snake keeper.
