Cinnamon Buns Stabilise Blood Sugars (in Measure)

Swedish Cinnamon Buns

The Swedish favourite food staple of cinnamon buns may actually have some health benefits.

According to a research study at the University Hospital Mas in Malmö, cinnamon added to food results in better blood sugar values and may even prevent heart disease in the long run. In the study, those who ate their rice pudding with six grams of cinnamon had a lower surge of insulin than those who didn’t. Stable blood sugar values are of great importance for both diabetics and healthy people, so cinnamon gets a strong thumbs up from the researchers. However, the National Food Administration warns against excess cinnamon consumption and advises against eating it by the spoonful.
