Double Paternity Leave for New Fathers

The Christian Democrat Party has suggested that paternity leave following the birth of a child be raised from the current 10 days to 20 days.

The party hopes to raise gender equality by doubling the so-called “pappadagar” for new fathers. At the present rate, it would take 200 years for fathers to catch up with the number of days mothers take off. And according to daily Svenska Dagbladet, the motion has received positive reaction from the other parties, including the Social Democrats who described the idea as “excellent”.
