Foreign Trees Threaten Swedish Forests

Swedish scientists are warning against the introduction of foreign species of trees in the Swedish forests - as one of the major threats against biological diversity.

The argument is that new comers with different genetic backgrounds result in cross pollinization and the creation of hybrids – threating the vast pine, fir and spruce forest environments which insects, birds and animals depend on for their existence.
