Too Few Milk Cows in Sweden

Swedish agricultural authorities report that the once over production of milk in this Nordic nation has dwindled to a scarcity.

Estimates claim that Sweden needs another 30 or 30,000 milk cows to supply the nation’s the needs.

The gradual reduction of the number of cows and dairy farms in Sweden is blamed on the low income and the unwillingness of the younger generation to take over from the old timers.

Even though some of the farms have been getting larger - taking over neighboring pastures abandoned by others, the general downtown trend seems to be continuing.
