EU Election Campaigning Underway, Over A Year Early

The elections to the European Parliament are over a year away, but the Swedish Christian Democrats are already drawing up their election platform.

One of their priorities will be to campaign to reduce alcohol import quotas from the EU. At the moments Swedes can bring in almost as much as they want from neighbouring countries with lower alcohol duties, as long as they can prove it is for personal use. The Christian Democrats think that’s too much, and will campaign to bring in more restrictive limits.

They also want a European Commissioner to soley deal with Gender equality issues, and will also focus their campaign on the environment and the fight against climate change they say.
