1,000 Pupils Bullied Since Law Reform

Two years after a new law protecting children and pupils came into effect, 1,000 cases of bullying have been reported to the authorities.

It is unclear though if the number of cases reported had been the same without a specific law forbidding bullying. According to the law, teachers are obliged to prevent pupils from bullying and have to take action if such cases occur.

Bullying is still considered a major problem at Swedish schools which has lead to several lawsuits in the past – with the latest commencing just this week.
