Government and Opposition Discuss Grades

Published måndag 19 maj 2008 kl 11.11

The center-right coalition government and the biggest opposition party, the Social Democrats, have started discussing a joint future school policy.

According to the five parties the talks are supposed to lead to an agreement that lasts for the coming 10 years.

Minister of Education Jan Björklund told Swedish Radio news his aim was to ensure that pupils get a constant school education which will not be reformed after every change of government.

Both the government and the opposition have already made clear that they want to introduce grades at an earlier stage than in today’s 9th grade.
