Bribery Accusations at Migration Board

An employee at the Swedish Migration Board is suspected of taking bribes.

An asylum seeker from Afghanistan claims that he paid more than 6000 US dollars for a residence permit.

According to the newspaper “Dagens Nyheter”, when the money was handed over, the asylum seeker recorded the conversation on his mobile telephone. He later turned the recording over to the migration authorities.

In the recording, the migration board employee allegedly says he has sold residence permits previously for two or three times as much. According to “Dagens Nyheter” he also names another person at the board he says is involved.
