Cancer Risk from Borrelia/Lyme Disease

The newpaper “Uppsala Nya Tidning” reports on a study that indicates that Borrelia infections increase the risk of getting some cancers.

Borrelia is also known as Lyme Disease, and is carried by ticks.

A new study of 3000 Danish and Swedish cancer patients with Hodgkins Disease and non-Hodgkins Lymphoma has found that nearly one in seven had had Borrelia. That’s three times the average in a control group.

Around 10,000 Swedes are infected with Borrelia every year.
