Strikers Clear To Resume Training

Sweden’s National Football Coach had injury scares to two members of his Euro 2008 squad over the weekend.

Both were strikers; Markus Rosenberg hurt his knee during a practice session with the national squad but a scan revealed no ligament damage.

Henrik Larsson was given permission to take a break from the Swedish training camp to play for his old club Celtic in a memorial match for his old teammate Phil O’Donnell who died last December.

Larsson scored with a spectacular volley, but earlier had to leave the pitch for ten minutes of treatment following a clash of heads. Larsson joined up with the Swedish squad later on Sunday.

Larsson is expected to play some part in Monday night’s Euro 2008 warm-up against Slovenia. Sweden are already without Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Freddy Ljungberg for Monday’s game.

The Swedes play Spain, Greece and Russia in the European Championships next month.
