Report Suggests Certified Teachers Only

Only professional teachers might be allowed to get unlimited employment at schools in future. On Tuesday, state commissioner Jörgen Ullenhag presented his proposals on reformed school education to the government.

According to Ullenhag’s plans schools would only have the right to employ certified teachers and it would be only them who would be allowed to grade pupils.

Minister for Education Jan Björklund of the Liberal Party has repeatedly pointed out that the government seeks to increase the quality of education at Swedish schools.

Critics from the opposition maintain that the government’s plans lead into the wrong direction. Instead of forcing a few teachers to get a certain certification, the government should rather employ more teachers at all schools, Rossana Dinamarca of the Left Party said.
