Malmö Wants Migrants To Move

Sweden’s third city, Malmö in the far south, is to use over 500 hundred thousand US dollars, as well as over 1 and a half million dollars from the EU and other local authorities, to get newly arrived migrants to move to other parts of Sweden.

City Mayor Ilmar Reepalu has previously been critical of government policy letting migrants move where they want, meaning many are drawn to the larger cities, meaning a lack of housing and high unemployment rates among the newly arrived. It’s hoped that the money will help the immigrants move to other parts of the country where accommodation and jobs are in more plentiful supply.
