Health Care Strike Over

The 6 week long heath care professional strike is over. Employers organisations and unions agreed on a deal on Wednesday afternoon. The deal means that nurses, radiologists and midwives, among others, will get a 4 percent pay rise the first year of the deal, 3 percent the next, and 2 percent the third year.

The deal will also set a minimum wage of 3 500 US dollars a month from 2009.

The strike, which lasted 6 weeks meant that over 6 thousand health care workers were on strike, with thousands of operations being cancelled across Sweden.
